Burrett and Berry are to be congratulated on more rigorously testing the ∼1 Ga reconstructions between western Laurentia and eastern Australia. However, their best-fit solution, which appears to be based on that of Karlstrom et al. (1999) and Brookfield (1993), has several problems. First, the ∼1.3–1.06 Ga Albany-Fraser and Musgrave belts trend directly into the Archean Wyoming craton, whereas the Grenville orogen in southern Laurentia abuts on Tasmania where there is no ∼1 Ga tectonothermal event.
