The term “Pangeaic Orogenic System” is proposed for the cluster of orogenic events, which occurred between 250 and 650 m.y. ago, that forms a continuous network of belts in Pangea. Comparison thus far between plate tectonic versus ensialic processes of origin suggests that both have been operative.
