Abstract

A comparison of the morphology of acid insoluble linings of the juvenile to early adult stages of Foraminifera with specimens of Nannoceratopsis gracilis, previously considered to belong to the Dinophyceae, indicates that the two are related. By organizing specimens of Nannoceratopsis gracilis into a spiral in order of increasing symmetry, a model of a planispiral foraminifer can be obtained.
