Abstract

A normal-fault escarpment of the West Galicia Atlantic margin exposes an 800-m-thick section of weakly metamorphosed sandstone, dolomite, and volcaniclastic rocks. The microfauna and microflora from dolomitic layers indicate a shelf deposit of Late Devonian-early Carboniferous age. The series was probably deposited in a posttectonic basin developed on the Ossa Morena zone of the Iberian Variscides.
