A short (∼10-km) pilot seismic reflection profile recorded in the Kapuskasing structural zone near Foleyet, Ontario, reveals reflections with travel times of at least 5.0 s (about 16-km depth). An event dipping west from about 1.7 to 3.4 s probably corresponds to the Ivanhoe Lake cataclastic zone. The true (geologic) dip on this boundary is calculated to be about 35°-38° west-northwest and is consistent with interpretations of this zone as a west-dipping, crustal-scale thrust fault. East-dipping reflections are observed with longer travel times than the fault-zone arrival and are likely from within the greenstone terrane of the Abitibi subprovince.
