About 70 poorly preserved conodonts were recovered from a sample of marble from the Coyote Mountains, southern California. The specimens are all highly altered coniform elements of Early Ordovician age and indicate that lower Paleozoic marble, schist, and quartzite occurs in the Salton Trough, west of the San Andreas–Gulf of California plate boundary.
