Abstract

Previous workers studying the structural geology of the Pelona and related schists of southern California and southwestern Arizona have generally reported two important sets of folds, an early group of isoclinal folds and a set of later, more open folds. Field and petrographic evidence presented here indicates the existence of additional isoclinal folds predating the ones already described. All folds are thought to have formed during underthrusting of the Pelona Schist in a subduction zone.
