Abstract

Generation of rhyolite-hosted massive sulfide deposits is restricted to extensional habitats. These include interarc and back-arc volcano-tectonic rifts related to orthogonal or oblique subduction, and rifts induced by either transform faulting or intraplate activity. Modern analogs of some of these habitats could contain recent massive sulfide deposits.
