Analysis of the properties of soils developed in marine terrace deposits that are displaced by the San Simeon fault zone in central California allows for their correlation across the fault. Based on a suite of 7 soil and stratigraphic parameters determined from 17 soil profiles, the second, third, and fourth marine terraces west of the fault correlate best with the first, second, and third terraces east of it.
