In a previous publication, I calculated the velocity at which earthquake dislocations should propagate if the friction law of a fault is dominated by a dependence on the slippage velocity. It was found that earthquake dislocations should travel at either the Rayleigh velocity (edge dislocations), or the shear-wave velocity (screw dislocations), or at a supersonic velocity. In this paper an investigation is made of the permitted earthquake dislocation velocities for faults whose friction law is dominated by a dependence on slippage displacement rather than slippage velocity. It is found that dislocations can move at arbitrary subsonic velocities and at least one transonic velocity
