About Gulf Petrolink and Dr. M. Al-Husseini
Dr. Moujahed Al-Husseini founded Gulf PetroLink (GPL) in 1993 in Bahrain as a consultancy aimed at promoting petroleum geoscience technology in the Middle East. Moujahed received his BSc in Engineering Science from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran (1971), MSc in Operations Research from Stanford University, California (1972), and PhD in Earth Sciences from Brown University, Rhode Island (1975). After a one-year post-doc at the University of Colorado, Boulder, he joined Saudi Aramco in 1976. In 1992 he left the company where he was the Exploration Manager and established GPL.
In 1994 GPL took on its first publishing challenge by editing and printing the 2-volume, 840 page Proceedings of GEO 1994, the first Middle East Geoscience Conference. GPL launched GeoArabia at the GEO 1996 Conference and organized the biennial GEO 2000, 2002 and 2004 conferences. Between 1996 and 2015 GeoArabia published nearly 350 peer-reviewed articles, many 100s of GEO conference abstracts, as well as several special publications. Since retiring from his role in GeoArabia in 2016 Moujahed has focused his research on orbital stratigraphy.
