Viking Formation
Scope Notes: Consists of sandstone which grades eastward into siltstone and shale and into the marine shales of the Ashville Formation. In SW Alberta, the sandstones grade into dark marine shales and sandstones of the Bow Island Formation. Oil reservoirs in beds equivalent to the lower Colorado are found in sandstone of the Viking Formation. NE and SW Alberta.
