...J.W. Head; L. Wilson; J. Dickson; G. Neukum Abstract Two narrow, broadly arcuate, low ridges extend for 600–700 km in western Terra Tyrrhena, Mars, crosscut ancient Noachian terrain, and are associated with Early Hesperian plains, which cover ∼30% of Mars. Geological relationships suggest...

A Mars Orbiting Laser Altimeter (MOLA) hillshade map of the topography of Mars with mineral detections from a survey of CRISM targeted images overlain. Symbols represent minerals found within a CRISM image or group of images at a particular location (this spatial scale is too large to display the images). Fraeman et al. (2009) surveyed Noachis Terra and Terra Tyrrhena. Ehlmann et al. (2009) surveyed the area west of the Isidis basin. Fe,Mg-smectites are the most commonly detected alteration minerals, though localized instances of greater mineralogic diversity are observed. Examples for this review are taken from the area outlined by the white box.

Geographic distribution of valley network–fed lakes and precipitation estimates (PT) on Mars. (A) Blue columns indicate minimum PT values (PT,min); blue dashed outline indicates regions with high PT,min (MT—Margaritifer Terra; TS—Terra Sabaea). (B) Red columns indicate maximum PT values (PT,max); red dashed outline indicates regions with low PT,max (TT—Tyrrhena Terra). (C) White columns indicate PT ranges from coupled systems. Blue/red triangles—open/closed systems. Elevation data are from Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA).

.... There are no reported examples that specifically describe linkings in the planetary tectonics literature. However, many candidate examples are present in Hesperia Planum, Mars, especially folds and thrust-fault-related landforms associated with, or in the vicinity of, Hesperia and Tyrrhena Dorsa. There, landforms...
