Figure 8. Archean(?) Grouse Creek block and Selway terrane are accreted to the western margin of the Wyoming province, ca. 1.80–1.76 Ga. Early Yavapai-age arcs (Green Mountain, Dubois-Cochetopa, Irving, Mopin–Gold Hill, Ash Creek–Payson) are located outboard of southern margin of assembled Laurentian core terranes, alongside Mojavia–Elves Chasm terrane. S.T.Z.—Snowbird tectonic zone. G.S.L.—Great Slave Lake shear zone.

... of the exposed Archean Wyoming craton contains accreted juvenile Paleoproterozoic arc-like terranes, along with a possible mafic underplate of similar age. This area is largely under the Mesoproterozoic Belt basin and intruded by the Idaho batholith. We refer to this Paleoproterozoic crust herein as the Selway...

(A) Map of basement terranes that interact with the Idaho batholith system, modified from Foster et al. (2006). The basement of Laurentia, east of the 0.706 (87Sr/86Sr) line, ranges from Archean- to Mesoproterozoic-aged crust. The Idaho batholith intrudes mostly Paleoproterozoic crust of the Selway block. Its eastern extension into Montana coincides with the Paleoproterozoic-aged suture between the Archean Medicine Hat and Wyoming terranes. GFTZ—Great Falls tectonic zone; PR—Priest River. (B) Two-stage depleted mantle model ages using bentonite Nd isotopic compositions (n = 26 as in Fig. 5). The ages generally mirror the isotopic composition, since Sm/Nd ratios were similar across all samples. Provenance ages range from Paleoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic, spanning the various basement terranes seen in this region. DMM—depleted mantle model (age).

Simplified crustal-scale cross sections through 2.05–1.95 Ga Glenburgh Orogen/southern Gascoyne Province and immediately adjacent Yilgarn Craton based on (A) magnetotellluric data (Selway et al., 2009), (B) interpreted seismic reflection images (Johnson et al., 2013), and (C) geological relationships and inferred tectonic evolution (Occhipinti et al., 2004; Olierook et al., 2018; Pirajno et al., 2004; Sheppard et al., 2004). Note the prominent south-dipping resistivity feature in part A, which broadly corresponds to the Cardilya Fault and shares the same southward dip as other major faults in the interpreted seismic section shown in part B. This structure separates the Glenburgh Terrane/Gascoyne Province from the Yilgarn Craton, beneath which the former has been thrust southward; the north-dipping Errabiddy Shear Zone (SZ) is a secondary structure, separating the Dalgaringa granite batholith from both the Yilgarn Craton and its long assumed Gascoyne Province substrate. Parts A and B are modified after Sheppard et al. (2010b) and Johnson et al. (2013). High-resistivity region at point D in part A is an artifact resulting from a loss of data across this area; region at point E has a resistivity different from both Pilbara (point F) and the rest of the Gascoyne Province but geologically remains part of the latter.
