Figure 7. View southwest of the south valley wall of Caldera Creek. The glaciated northeast cirque of Ruth Mountain rises above. The contact between uppermost white, nearly pure ash facies of the ignimbrite of Hannegan Peak (Thh) and overlying ignimbrite of Ruth Mountain (Thr) dips south ∼35°. Thr, which extends to the snowy ridge crest left (east) of Ruth Mountain, is typically darker and more altered than Thh. The medium gray band at the contact may be sedimentary rock of unit Ths, but it could not be reached. Glaciated Ruth Mountain (2169 m) rises above. Dark knob in the glacier to the right of the summit is a megablock of Easton metamorphic suite schist ∼100 m across.

(a) Comparison of the waveforms calculated by the Ruth, Iwastu, and optimal 3rd symplectic integrators along with the analytic solution. (b) Difference between analytic and numerical solutions (uanalytic−unumerical). The peak frequency f0 of the explosive source is 10 Hz. The grid space is 20×20×20  m.
