...James N. Murdock abstract A seismic-refraction experiment was conducted in the Melones Reservoir region of the metamorphic belt of central California in May 1972. The experiment was designed to produce data for analyses by seismic-refraction-line and time-term methods. The belt is geologically...

Box plots showing the concentration of arsenic in pyrite (logarithmic scale) from waste rock at Empire Mine (from Burlak 2012) compared with mines, prospects, and roadcuts in the vicinity of Don Pedro Reservoir (DPR) (modified from Savage et al. 2000a). The data from Burlak (2012) are individual electron microprobe analyses, whereas the data from Savage et al. (2000a) represent averages of 3 to 9 electron microprobe analyses of individual pyrite grains, plotted as a function of distance from the Melones fault zone. “Zero” on the horizontal axis marks the approximate center of the Melones fault zone where samples from the Clio and Shawmut mines are plotted (locations in Fig. 5). The distance +0.5 km denotes the eastern edge of the fault zone: the samples are from a mineralized outcrop near the Harriman mine (Savage et al. 2000a).
