Tony with colleagues: photo taken during the Durham Geology Department's first-year excursion week in the early 1960s. The location is Hilton Beck in the Vale of Eden: the north side of the road between Hilton and Appleby (then Westmorland), a mile or two west of the Pennine escarpment. The members of Department staff are from right to left: Ron W. Girdler (Research Fellow); G.A.L. (Tony) Johnson (Lecturer); Martin H. P. Bott (Lecturer) and Roger E. Long (Research Assistant).
