Map of the Avon block, or Farmington anticline, showing parts of the Ste. Genevieve Fault zone and Sims Mountain fault system, and line of cross-section in Figure 12. The axis of the Farmington anticline is along the Piney Glade fault zone; limbs are indicated by double-pointed arrow. Base is an aeromagnetic map; contour interval is 50 nT (after Cordell, 1979).

Map of the study area and important uplifts in southern Wyoming. Sections (red dots) were measured at Minnie's Gap (Glades Ridge area, loc. 1), Pipeline Canyon (Cooper Ridge area, loc. 2), exposures in the city of Rock Springs (loc. 3), exposures in the Haystack Mountains along the North Platte River (loc. 4), Pine Draw (The Breaks area, loc. 5), and exposures SE of Rock River along Pine Ridge (loc. 6). Locations of wells (stars) and published outcrops (black dots) are also shown. The well-log correlations were made along the 2-D transect A–A′, and the clastic wedge thicknesses were measured from wells along the 2-D transect B–B′. Relevant published transects (green) are also shown.

...Rachel C. Glade; Charles M. Shobe; Robert S. Anderson; Gregory E. Tucker Abstract Geologists frequently debate the origin of iconic river canyons, as well as the extent to which they record climatic and tectonic signals. Fluvial and hillslope processes work in concert to control canyon evolution...
