—Isopach maps showing thickness (in meters) of turbidite and allochthonous accumulations in Bradano Trough. Subsidence began during middle Pliocene, accompanied by deposition of more than 1,500 m (4,921 ft) of clastic sediments in northern area (Apulian basin), and extended southward during late Pliocene. Continued subsidence in south during the Pleistocene formed Lucanian basin. Subsidence is still active in area of Ionian Sea.
