Abstract The Fidalgo ophiolite is located on scenic Fidalgo Island, approximately 60 mi (96 km) north of Seattle, Washington. Stop 1 is at Washington Park in Anacortes. To get there from I-5, take Washington 20 (exit 230) at Burlington west to Anacortes. In Anacortes, follow signs to the ferry terminal, that is, Commercial Avenue north to 12th Street, then left onto 12th Street (Washington 20 spur). Stay in the left lane at theferry terminal junction and proceed straight ahead to Washington Park. Field trip mileage begins at the entrance to Washington Park. Follow the loop road. Milesand kilometers are shown in parentheses.
