Availability of geologic materials from state surveys
AAPG Bulletin (May 1978) 62 (5): 863-866

In the past the AAPG Boy Scout Committee has assisted the Boy Scouts of America in several activities, one of the most successful being the publication of a merit badge booklet. One problem facing modern Scouts, particularly those in cities, is the availability of rocks and mineral samples for study. A questionnaire to State Geological Surveys revealed that 58% have collections available. State Surveys also have geologic literature available.
