Petroleum developments in Australia in 1975
AAPG Bulletin (October 1976) 60 (10): 1957-1964

Abstract

Exploration and development activity in Australia declined in 1975 relative to 1974. Exploration footage drilled in 1975 was about 60% less than in 1974. Only 20 wildcats were drilled in 1975; most of these were on the northwest shelf. One successful wildcat and 1 deeper pool discovery were made in that area. Elsewhere wildcats were unsuccessful, both onshore and offshore. Onshore development work resulted in 4 successful gas wells in the Cooper basin, South Australia.
