Abstract
Aeromagnetic studies of the Line Islands Ridge between Kingman Reef and Christmas Island show a predominant magnetic lineation direction at 310 degrees paralleling the strike of the ridge. On the average, the amplitude of the anomalies is less than 200 gammas, although the largest anomaly, observed over Kingman Reef, reaches 900 gammas peak to peak. The anomalies appear to have formed as the result of volcanic intrusions and extrusions during the formation and growth of the island ridge.
