Fusinized resins in Gondwana (Permian) coals of India
Economic Geology and the Bulletin of the Society of Economic Geologists (January 1966) 61 (1): 137-146

Abstract

The micro-constituents identified previously as fungal sclerotia in lower Gondwana coals of India are concluded on detailed study including their re-examination to be in fact fusinized resins. They occur as discrete, medium to highly reflecting bodies of variable shape, size, and form showing optical features that developed on devolatilization during the fusinization of plant resins. They are common to very common in dull coals and rare in bright banded coals.
