Abstract

Potassium is high in hydrothermally altered rocks near Arizona copper deposits, but there is no corresponding increase in thorium. The potassium anomalies are large enough to be detected by truck-mounted (and possibly airborne) gamma-ray spectrometer, and may be distinguishable from anomalies due to unaltered potassium-rich intrusives by their higher potassium-thorium ratios.
