Abstract

Hulsite, (Fe (super 2+) ,Mg (super 2+) ,Fe (super 3+) ,Sn (super 4+) ) (sub 3) BO (sub 3) O (sub 2) , is monoclinic, P2 probable (P2/m possible, Pm unlikely), a=10.684+ or -0.003, b=3.099+ or -0.001, c=5.438+ or -0.002A, beta =94 degrees 8.7'+ or -1.5'. Indexed x-ray diffraction powder data are given and are shown to be distinctive from those for the iron borate, vonsenite.
