Abstract

Variability of the physical and chemical properties of pure glauconite is considered. A major cause of the variation in properties is the occurrence of non-structural iron oxides and it is suggested that chemical analyses which have been reported for glauconite should be recalculated. There appears to be an inverse relationship between the FeO and Al (sub 2) O (sub 3) contents of glauconite.
