Abstract

An unusual untwinned potash feldspar of low refractive index and positive sign was reported by G. H. Anderson (1937) to be abundant in the Boundary Peak granite of the northern Inyo Mountains. The author could not obtain samples of the original material, but examined feldsparsars from over 100 samples of Boundary Peak granite; conoscopic figures were checked on the flat stage or universal stage. Ten thin sections from the type areas were also studied. All the potash feldspar was found to be optically negative, intermediate to maximum microcline.--V.M.J
