Abstract

The names Ely (Early Pennsylvanian) and Park City (Medial Permian), which for years were known at the formation level, have recently been raised to group ranks in parts of Nevada and Utah. It is herein proposed to raise Arcturus to group rank to include formations of Wolfcampian to Early Wordian age, except Ferguson Mountain Formation (Wolfcampian) in northeastern Nevada and northwestern Utah. These groups, mostly marine, include limestones, siltstones, claystones, shales, dolomites, evaporites, sandstones, and orthquartzites. Detailed sections are described and correlated.
