Four species of Batostoma, B. chazyensis, n. sp., B. sheldonensis, n. sp. , B. lanensis, n. sp., B. campensis, n. sp., occur in Chazyan strata in New York State and Vermont, and represent some of the oldest known species of Batostoma. The 4 species are found in biosparite, biosparrudite and dolomite which suggest deposition in a high wave-energy environment adjacent to small reefs.
