Abstract
Churchite-(Nd) and iodine, up to now recognized as valid minerals by IMA CNMNC, are discredited because, for different reasons, both are non-existent mineral species and were never actually characterized. Churchite-(Nd) is in fact neodymium-rich churchite-(Y) and iodine has never been found at its sole purported type locality of Vesuvius. Both discreditations have been approved by the IMA CNMNC (15-C and 15-D).
