Abstract

The recently rediscovered holotype of the fossil arachnid Maiocercus orbicularis Gill. 1911 (Arachnida: Trigono-tarbida), from the Upper Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian, Westphalian A) of Westhoughton near Bolton, is described and figured from its repository in the Bolton Museum. Its status as a junior synonym of Maiocercus celticus (Pocock, 1902) is confirmed.
