Study of local concentration of single substitutional nitrogen atoms in microdiamonds from the Kokchetav Massif

Abstract

An estimate is presented of the concentration of single substitutional nitrogen atoms (P1 centre) from EPR data in Kokchetav diamonds. From analyses of the dependence of the line-width of the broad exchange line on the P1 concentration in the range higher than 1000 ppm in synthetic diamonds, a calibration curve was obtained. The P1 centre concentration of 1900 ppm in microdiamonds from the garnet-pyroxene rocks considerably exceeds the 275 ppm value for stones from the carbonate rocks.
