Abstract

The Andaman Basin, toward the southeastern part of Bay of Bengal around the Andaman-Nicobar chain of islands, is a part of large geotectonic unit that extends from Indonesian Islands in the south to Myanmar in the north. The basin extends 1200 km from Myanmar to Sumatra and 650 km from the Malay Peninsula to the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
