Abstract

Discussion of conclusions relative to the intensity and duration of chemical weathering during the Precambrian contained in a paper on the origin of the iron formations of the Lake Superior district; points out that lateritic iron ores locally more than 100 meters thick are being formed at present by chemical weathering processes in the Conakry district of French Guinea, French West Africa.
