Abstract
The importance of sedimentary petrology to the discovery of oil is reflected in its wide utilization by the oil companies. It is the source of numerous criteria which constitute the basis for subsurface correlation. The study of sediments is considered paramount for the determination of porosity, for successful acidizing, and for information that can be used at the time of drilling.
