Neutron sources and instrumentation (in Neutron scattering in mineral and earth sciences, Romano Rinaldi (editor))
European Journal of Mineralogy (April 2002) 14 (2): 225-232

Abstract

Neutron sources and the instrumentation commonly employed in neutron scattering are described. Only a fraction of the available neutron-scattering techniques have been used in the Earth sciences so far; quasi-elastic neutron-scattering, neutron Compton scattering, Bragg edge transmission measurements, reflectrometry and spin echo spectroscopy are all examples of experimental techniques which could be applied to the study of structures and processes in minerals and rocks.
