Abstract

The authors acknowledge comments on their 2001 study of vein quartz by Bogie & Lawless with the statement that there is some truth in their ideas. Nevertheless, they point out that the intense boiling required to increase delta (super 18) O (sub water) up to 60/00, suggested by Bogie & Lawless, was unlikely to occur at the -5 m level during precipitation of gold-containing quartz vein.
