Abstract

Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analytical methods are the subjects of this section that begins with an introduction covering the history of IR analysis during the 20th century. The paper summarizes data from FTIR spectra in the near infrared (NIR) and middle infrared (MIR) regions. NIR covers the range 11 000-4000 cm (super -1) while MIR covers the range 4000-400 cm (super -1) . To give adequate characterization of the samples two standard techniques (transmission and reflectance) were employed. Comparison of sample preparation methods and discussion of the results for each of the named samples is provided; 17 pages are devoted to graphical and tabulated results.
