Abstract

The bulk elastic properties of andradite and grossular have been determined at < or = 37 GPa. The Birch-Murnaghan EOS yield K (sub 0) 158.5 + or - 1.0 GPa and K' (sub 0) 5.77 + or - 0.10 for andradite, and K (sub 0) 169.3 + or - 1.2 GPa and K' (sub 0) 5.92 + or - 0.14, for grossular. The cell edge compressibilities are beta (sub 0) = 0.00208/GPa for andradite and beta (sub 0) = 0.00194/GPa for grossular.
