Abstract

"Alpine glaciers are important molders of the terrain, producing a variety of erosional and depositional land forms. Through these, the history of climatic fluctuations, to which the glaciers owe their existence, may be deduced.... Not only are alpine glaciers an important geologic factor in the dynamic processes affecting the higher mountains of the earth, but they are an important key to the understanding of the Pleistocene."
