Abstract
Moessbauer spectra for synthetic iron-bearing hollandite with nominal compositions of K (sub 2) Fe (sub 2) Ti (sub 6) O (sub 16) and BaFe (sub 2) Ti (sub 6) O (sub 16) , and one natural sample of priderite, were recorded at room T. All iron in these phases was found to occur as octahedral Fe (super 3+) with no evidence for Fe (super 2+) . Quadrupole splitting values show a trend consistent with increasing bond-length deviation of the octahedral sites.
