Disclinations in unusual graphite crystals from anorthosites of Ukraine
The Canadian Mineralogist (August 1999) 37, Part 4: 951-960

Abstract

A complete series of unusual crystal morphologies is described for graphite crystals in anorthosites of the Korsun-Novomirgorod pluton in the Ukraine. The morphologies range from tabular to columnar, pseudodipyramidal, pseudodipyramidal-prismatic, and nearly spherical. A possible mechanism for this type of morphology is presented, based on spiral-layer and polycentric growth in the presence of negative wedge disclination.
