Abstract

From the X-ray study of electrically heated iron wire at P 35-68 GPa, it was possible to demonstrate the reversibility of the transformation between hexagonal close-packed (HCP) and face-centred cubic (FCC) or double hexagonal close-packed (DHCP) structures. The new results indicate a negative P and T slope of the DHCP-HCP transformation.
