Abstract
Although few in number, geophysicists in Taiwan are, nonetheless, committed to the advancement of their profession. To facilitate the exchange of ideas, the Geophysical Society of China (GSC) was founded six years ago in Taipei; membership is about 500, a majority of Taiwan's nearly 600 practitioners. The Society's annual two-day meeting features an average of 150 papers (both oral and poster) dealing with a variety of topics, from seismology to resource exploration and engineering geophysics. Supported by the Oceanic Society of China and the Atmospherical Society of China, GSC publishes the quarterly journal TAO.
