Uranium-rich metamict senaite from Alinci, Yugoslavia

Senaite from Alinci, formerly determined as davidite, has been analysed by ICP-AES and XRD. It is unusually rich in U (U (sub 3) O (sub 8) approx 11%) and depleted in REE, with the average formula (Pb (sub 0.87) Sr (sub 0.10) [REE+Y] (sub 0.02) )- (Ti (sub 13.48) Fe (sub 6.00) U (sub 0.78) Sn (sub 0.09) V (sub 0.05) Zn (sub 0.05) Cr (sub 0.05) Ga (sub 0.04) )O (sub 38) . U-induced radiation damage caused rather complete metamictization; after annealing, XRD gave a 10.382, c 20.899 Angstrom, similar to those of davidite. Although low in total REE, the senaite shows a marked LREE enrichment, implying oxidative hydrothermal vein mineralization.
