Abstract

A second occurrence of magnetoplumbite is described in dolomitic marbles at Nezilovo, approx 40 km SW of Veles, in the central part of the Pelagonian massif. EPMA and TG data indicate the formula (Pb (sub 0.99) Ca (sub 0.01) )(Fe (sub 6.12) Mn (sub 2.53) Zn (sub 1.89) Al (sub 1.03) Ti (sub 0.41) Mg (sub 0.02) )(O (sub 17.78) OH (sub 0.94) ); this magnetoplumbite is thus a Zn-rich variety. It has a 5.854, c 22.882 Angstrom ; D (sub calc) 5.66 g/cm (super 3) ; the IR spectrum shows a broad and weak absorption at 3450 cm (super -1) , attributed to OH.
