Abstract

High resolution TEM has provided evidence for ordering of [Na (sub 4) .SO (sub 4) ] (super 2+ ) and [Na (sub 4) .H (sub 2) O] (super 4+ ) clusters in nosean, ideally Na (sub 8) [Al (sub 6) Si (sub 6) O (sub 24) ] SO (sub 4) .H (sub 2) O. Reflections of type hhl, l = 2n + 1, indicate that space group P43n is an average for nosean. Space group P23, a subgroup of P43n, applies to one type of domain that occurs in nosean and allows for a good model structure for nosean.
