Abstract

The britholite-(Ce) consists of small transparent pale blue hexagonal tabular crystals in volcanic ejecta, mainly composed of sanidine, from Monte Somma. The mineral is hexagonal and uniaxial negative, with a 9.597, c 7.04 Angstrom. It has a high Ca content (CaO 19.92%) and the highest Th content (20.73%) so far reported for this mineral.
