Abstract
The values of the compatibility index, 1-(K (sub p) /K (sub c) ), have been calculated for 185 new mineral proposals processed for voting by the members of the Commission on New Minerals and Mineral Names of the International Mineralogical Association in the five-year period from 1983 to 1987. Analysis of the data indicates that new Gladstone-Dale constants should be determined for Bi (sub 2) O (sub 3) , and TeO (sub 2) and TeO (sub 3) .
